Thoughts on VMA'S

Hello las sages, Its your daily dose of wiseness (if there is such a word) ,The 2021 VMA'S was a few days ago and I have many thoughts about the winners.

Video of the year - The nominees for video of the year are (Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – “WAP” , DJ Khaled ft. Drake – “Popstar” (starring Justin Bieber) ,Doja Cat ft. SZA – “Kiss Me More” ,Ed Sheeran – “Bad Habits”, The Weekend – “Save Your Tears” and Lil Nas X - Montero "Call me by your name" who is the winner. Personally I have no problem with this as the music video was very creative and it was very impressive, he deserves it and it was certainly the best on this list and it was clearly the best although the visuals in "WAP and Kiss me more" were amazing the prosthetics and make up in "Bad Habits and Save your Tears" were amazing but Call me by your name was simply the best.

Artist of the year - The nominees for Artist of they year are (Ariana Grande, Doja Cat, Meghan Thee Stallion, Olivia Rodrigo, Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber who took the win. I'm sorry but I have a problem with this, while I think Justin Bieber is a great artist and performed well , I think the other nominees performed better, Doja Cat's Planet Her is an outstanding album, Ariana's Positions was beyond amazing, Folklore by Taylor swift was iconic and was just a great piece of art, Sour by Olivia was great for someone who just came into the industry, Meghan thee stallion bodied body she didn't fail to deliver and then you have Justin Bieber with his "Justice" album which wasn't even about Justice it was just about his love for his wife and theirs nothing wrong with that but why would you name it Justice personally I think He underperformed and hasn't had a good album in like 6 years and now I'm not saying Justice wasn't good cuz Justice was enjoyable, I just think the other nominees deserved it more, to be more specific I think Doja , Ariana or Taylor should've won.

Song of the Year - The nominees for Song of the year (24kGoldn ft. Iann Dior – “Mood”, Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic – “Leave the Door Open”, BTS – “Dynamite”, Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – “WAP”, Dua Lipa – “Levitating”, Olivia Rodrigo "Drivers License" was the winner. I'm not upset but I'm upset because I really thought that "Leave the door Open by Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic" really deserved it as it was such a great song which I really enjoyed, I actually didn't see the hype with that song to be honest, I mean I listened to it and I enjoyed but personally I think "Good for u and Brutal" were better songs but whatever Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic – “Leave the Door Open should've won and that's final.

Best New Artist - The nominees for Best New Artist are (24kGoldn, Giveon, The Kid LAROI, Polo G, Saweetie and Olivia Rodrigo who took home the win. It was actually narrowed down to "The Kid and Olivia" and fans got to vote on twitter and the winner was Olivia, to be honest I was rooting for The Kid cuz his music is amazing but Olivia music is amazing and her sour album was chef kiss, I'm a bit sad The Kid LAROI didn't win but I'm proud of Olivia as she achieve so much in such a short time I hope she continues on this amazing path and doesn't fall off.

Best Collaboration - The nominees for Best Collaboration are(24kGoldn ft. Iann Dior – “Mood”, Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – “WAP”, Drake ft. Lil Durk – “Laugh Now Cry Later”, Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar, Giveon – “Peaches”, Miley Cyrus ft. Dua Lipa – “Prisoner” and Doja Cat ft. SZA – “Kiss Me More” was the winner. I agree with this , I think Doja and SZA definitely deserve this they were great together and "Kiss me more" was a amazing song, If it wasn't them who won I think it would've been Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – “WAP” or Miley Cyrus ft. Dua Lipa – “Prisoner”.

Best Pop - The nominees for Best Pop are (Ariana Grande – “Positions”, Billie Eilish – “Therefore I Am”, BTS – “Butter” , Harry Styles – “Treat People With Kindness”, Olivia Rodrigo – “Good 4 U”, Shawn Mendes – “Wonder”, Taylor Swift – “Willow” and Justin Bieber ft. Daniel Caesar, Giveon – “Peaches” who were the winners. I never expected this to be honest, I thought Positions, Willow, Therefore I am or Good 4 u would've won but peaches wasn't a bad song to be honest but it definitely wasn't the best in this list of nominees.

Best R & B - The nominees for best R&B are (Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN, WizKid – “Brown Skin Girl”, Chris Brown and Young Thug – “Go Crazy”, Giveon – “Heartbreak Anniversary”, H.E.R. ft. Chris Brown – “Come Through”, SZA – “Good Days” and Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic – “Leave the Door Open” was the winner. This win made me so happy , no one deserved it more than Bruno, Anderson and Silk Sonic not even Queen Bey her self.

Push Performance of the year was won by Olivia Rodrigo - "drivers license"

Best Rock was won by John Mayer – “Last Train Home”

Machine Gun Kelly ft. Blackbear – “My Ex’s Best Friend” won Best Alternative

Best Latin was won by Billie Eilish & ROSALÍA – “Lo Vas A Olvidar”

Best K-Pop was won by BTS – “Butter”

Billie Eilish – “Your Power” won Video for Good

Lil Nas X – “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” – Directed by: Lil Nas X and Tanu Muino won best direction

Best Cinematography went to "Beyoncé, Blue Ivy, SAINt JHN, WizKid – “Brown Skin Girl” – Cinematography by: Benoit Soler, Malik H. Sayeed, Mohammed Atta Ahmed, Santiago Gonzalez, Ryan Helfant "

Saweetie ft. Doja Cat – “Best Friend” – Art Direction by: Art Haynes took home Best Art Direction

Best Visual Effects was won by Lil Nas X – “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)” – Visual Effects by: Mathematic

Best Choreography was won by my baby Harry Styles for his "Treat people with Kindness" video , The choreography was created by Paul Roberts

Best Editing was won by Bruno Mars, Anderson .Paak, Silk Sonic – “Leave the Door Open” – Editing by: Troy Charbonnet

The Group of The Year was BTS

Song of the Summer was BTS - "Butter" which may I say was a major snub because the other nominees were so much better instead of this kidz bop song , no hat against BTS but the other nominees were better.

In Conclusion : If u look carefully at all the winners you might realize that these are fairly new artists , or at least none of them have been famous for more than 3 years, this just goes to show that its the new artists are coming in and taking the OG's space and the older artist are gonna have to put up more of a fight if they don't wanna be washed out, This ends my take on the VMA'S, Hope you enjoyed it, Au revoir las sages
